You might be wondering: What does it mean to galvanize POPin? Well, it involves evangelizing, recruiting, and instigating your team to leverage the app to weigh-in on topics that matter. While POPin isn't an overly complicated tool to navigate, it's still important to think through how you'll inspire others to use it.

There are three steps to help you fast path your galvanizing effort...

Step 1: Explore this question, "Why won't people just do what I want them to do?"

When new systems and processes are introduced, impacted people don’t always respond as we expect them too, which can block adoption and OUR desired outcome. Often, their behavior can map to one of three reasons—all of which can be prevented with some proper planning!

  1. They weren’t aware of the change/new system. (“I didn’t even know about this POPin thing. I got this email from my boss and was nervous to click the link given all our cybersecurity training.”)

  2. They didn’t understand how to be successful with the change/new system. (“I didn’t know what was expected of me in these POPin sessions or how it even really worked. So, I joined the sessions, but I didn’t actively participate.”)

  3. They didn’t prefer the change/new system. (“I've provided input in the past and it didn’t matter. Nothing ever changed so why bother!”)

Step 2: Build a plan.

Using the above model, you'll want to identify tactics to build Awareness, Understanding and Preference with the various stakeholder groups in your organization. Once you have these tactics mapped out, your galvanizing effort becomes way easier.

Here are some resources so you don't have to start from scratch:

Step 3: Be consistent.

We've seen POPin assist leaders and changemakers in some pretty powerful ways. While we recognize that no app is the "silver bullet," when galvanized properly, POPin will help you build trust, psychological safety, and a culture of continuous improvement—all winning ingredients for productivity and workplace happiness.

Being consistent is a key success factor.

Science has proven that it takes, on average, 66 days for our brains to map a new habit. We can't expect our teams or coworkers to join a single POPin session and be at a state of preference. So, consider yourself the Chief Reminding Officer for the next 66 days as you galvanize POPin. You won't regret it!
