As Patrick Lencioni (a.k.a. the pioneer of the organizational health movement) says, "People are skeptical about what they're being told unless they hear it consistently over time." He also says, "Great leaders see themselves as Chief Reminding Officers as much as anything else."
Here's how these concepts apply to your POPin galvanizing effort:
Due to busyness and change saturation, people sometimes determine how important our 'call to action' is based on if we repeat ourselves. As such, if you only tell others about your POPin session once... they might not take it seriously.
Leaders and changemakers sometimes feel fearful that repeating a message might be insulting or make their team members feel patronized. Rather, most of us know that repetition is a sign of commitment. So encouraging POPin usage during your active sessions shows that you're committed to using the tool—and more importantly, committed to hearing from them! Referencing the results in follow-up conversations reinforces your commitment.
Repetition can be boring so it's easy to say, "I already communicated! How much more do I really need to do?" Consider this: To mobilize people around an important cause, repetition and reinforcement is almost always needed.
System Notifications
(Unless you have your Email Preference Settings turned off) POPin will send system generated messages to you, as a session Creator. These messages can be used as reminders that it's a good time to communicate to your session participants.
That said, we strongly encourage you make POPin a part of your on-going dialog so your team members know you're committed. In return, they'll pay you with preference.
