Let's start here.

Are you one of those people whom regularly second guess what you said or posted? Are you reading this article because you feel exposed and want to delete your response, right now? If so, we strongly encourage you to leave your response in tact! Why? Highly effective teams offer unprovoked, constructive feedback to one another. 1) You're being asked to provide input and... feedback is a gift. Your voice deserves to be heard. 2) As long as your POPin responses are within the code of conduct, there are no bad answers.

However, there are times when POPin participants need to wordsmith a response so it makes sense, fix a typo, or delete an entry because someone else already brilliantly provided an answer that sums it up. For these scenarios, we have options.

Here's what you should know.

Will other users in the POPin session be notified of edited content?

If a POPin user edits their own content prior to any interaction with that content (e.g., voting and/or commenting on the post), POPin will not systematically call out or track the change. Other participants may or may not notice something changed based on individual observation.

However, If a POPin user edits their own content after another user has interacted with it, POPin will display ‘Edited’ underneath the edited content. The original content will not be visible to anyone in the POPin.

Will other users in the POPin session be notified of deleted content?

If a POPin user deletes their own content prior to any user interaction with the content (e.g., voting and/or commenting on the post), POPin will not provide any indication that the content was removed. Other participants may or may not notice something was removed based on individual observation.

However, If a POPin user deletes their own response after another user has interacted with it, POPin will display ‘Content removed by original poster in place of the content.

To help you visualize:

  • The first example in the above screen shot represents a comment to a Post that was Edited.

  • The second example in the above screen shot represents a comment that was deleted—and had engagement associated with it.

A VERY important note: If a user deletes their posted answer, all associated voting and comments will also be removed. In the case below, 4 Responses were originally posted for a POPin. The second post was deleted—along with the votes and comments associated with that given answer.

Still want to edit or delete your POPin response?

Here's how:

  1. Locate the answer or comment you wish to edit/delete.

If you are participating in an unrestricted session (meaning you did not need to log in with an email address to join the POPin conversation), you'll only be able to edit/delete while your web browser session is active. Said another way, if you close your web browser and go back into the session, POPin doesn't know who you are so the opportunity to edit/delete may be lost.)

  1. Select the ellipsis (...) next to the your post. (The ellipsis will not appear next to posts made by other people!)

  2. Select 'Edit' or 'Delete' based on what you need to do.

  3. Make necessary changes and then save/confirm. Please note: You cannot undo these actions once you finalize the changes.

Session Creator tidbits on this topic.

Can another user edit or delete content that I've authored?

No, users do not have access to any of the functions listed above unless you've authorized a specific user in your organization to act as your delegate via the Manage My Account Access feature because you want them to act on your behalf.

I’m a POPin Creator and a user has edited or deleted their own content. How will this affect reporting?

Your report metrics will only count contribution numbers present at the close of your POPin session. Said another way, content that was deleted by its respective user will not appear in your report. If content was removed by its respective author, it will only be displayed as ‘Content removed by original poster’ within the POPin session view.

Use the live Help chat to contact our Client Success Team if you'd like additional support on any of these topics.
