Please note: If you are a session Creator (vs. a participant), you'll always need to log in to access your proper POPin system permissions and session history.

You've been invited to a POPin session, and when you click the link that was shared with you ... the system prompts you for your email address. Why???

Whether or not your email address is required to join a POPin session all depends on how the session Creator configured that session.

Here's what's important to know:

  • If POPin does require you to log in using your email address, it's because the person running the session wants to ensure only a targeted audience can join that conversation.

  • If you regularly participate in POPin sessions that are created by different people, you could have different log in experiences. Meaning, sometimes you might click a link and 'pop right in' to the conversation, without signing in. Other times, you might need to enter and verify your email address.

  • Despite entering your email address: Once you're inside an anonymous POPin session, you are anonymous. Think of it like you're going to a concert. You'll need a ticket to get in, which may have your name on it. At the gate, officials scan the ticket to verify it’s valid, but once you’re inside ... you are just one of the crowd; no one knows who you are! Our login process is your ticket to the discussion, but once you enter an anonymous POPin, you’re just one of the crowd. (Read this article to learn more!)
