At POPin, our mission is to help leaders and changemakers build trust, drive clarity, and create buy-in so teams feel heard and perform at their best.

Based on the culture of your team/organization, speaking up and out might not be comfortable. Or ... maybe it is! This is why we give POPin Creators the option to create sessions that are either "anonymous" or "named". Specifically, this participation setting determines if participant responses will be associated with their name or if they will be 100% anonymous.

Overview:

  • Anonymous: If you participate in an anonymous POPin session by posting an answer, voting, or commenting: we will not share your identity with the session Creator or organization using POPin to gather your input and feedback. Of course, do keep in mind your style! If your response contains personal information or uses a style clearly identifiable and unique to you ... others may be able to figure out your identity. Once you join a session: Notice the "Posting Anonymously" prompt. This is your queue that your identity is safe for the session!

  • Named: When a POPin is set to collect 'named' feedback, your name WILL be tied to any actions you complete in that specific POPin session. Any engagement you have in the POPin will indicate "Posting as [your name]". In this case, the POPin Creator and all other users in that session will have full visibility into who answered and commented. Any likes or dislikes will also be attributed to you.

We'll say it again!

We take your privacy very seriously. When you participate in an anonymous POPin session, we will NOT share your identity with the session Creator or organization whom is asking for your input and feedback. So rest assured, your identity will not be revealed.

But I was asked to login?

POPin may prompt you to log in using your email address to ensure you have the correct access and system permissions. Read more in our Why does POPin need my email address to sign in? article. But again, once you're in an anonymous POPin session, you are anonymous!

Note: This article is a general summary, subject to change. You'll find the in-depth info in our privacy policy and terms of service. There are some rare exceptions in which we may be forced to share identities—specifically to comply with a subpoena, respond to a government request, or to protect someone's safety. Check out all the nitty-gritty details in our privacy policy.
